Millésime 2005
Blind tasting, Sept. 2008 - Full colour. Rich; profound, classy, gently oaky nose. Fullish body. Firm. Closed-in. Intense, long and profound. Lovely finish. Very fine. From 2015. 18.5
January 2008 - This is more primary with very fresh and deeply pitched black fruit and earthy aromas trimmed in discreet wood spice that continue onto the big, rich and robust big-bodied flavors that possess impressive density on the sleekly muscled and powerful finish. This isn’t refined but there’s plenty of punch and length plus it is very Malconsorts as it does an excellent job of allying robust power with Vosne breed. Highly recommended. 2017+ 93
Mar/Apr 08 - Good deep red-ruby. Pretty nose offers red cherry, minerals, rose petal and exotic spices. Then fatter in the mouth than the Chaumes but with a bit less definition and perfume. Showing more sweet vanillin oak today. But this is decidedly tannic and backward at present and needs cellaring. 89(+?)
Millésime 2006
The World of Fine Wine, "Déjà Bu" Tasting, 2009 - Dried earth and musky roses on the nose: slightly peppery and still showing slightly too much wood. Padded and soft on the palate, but less density and volume of fruit than [the Cathiard Malconsorts]. Slightly dry on the end finish. 16 (all testers: 16.95)
Tasted in 2009 - Medium-full colour. Full, firm, cool, balanced and virorous on the nose. Fullish body. Very high quality. Very intense. Super concentrated. Full body and excellent balance. Very fine. From 2016. 18.5
January 2008 - A relatively high-toned nose of black berry fruit, in particular raspberry and cherry, and Vosne spice is trimmed in moderate wood treatment that complements the round, rich and supple flavors that culminate in a textured but very awkward and unbalanced finish that terminates abruptly. Lamarche said that it had been recently racked with SO2 added but this doesn’t have that kind of sulfur-induced dryness. In short, it’s honestly hard to say, particularly since all of the other wines appear to my eye as being well made and entirely appropriate to their appellations. 2014+ 87-89?
10 Sep. 2009 - Mid crimson. Not 100% clean on the nose. Chewy. But some raciness and class, too. Difficult to mark. Overall this has so much class that it has to get a good mark. Drink 2012-20. 17.5
Mar/Apr 08 - Good full red. Oaky red fruits on the nose. Sweet, dense and aromatic in the mouth, with spicy red fruit flavors already exuding lovely inner-mouth perfume. Finishes with firm, building tannins and very good length and spine. 88-91
Millésime 2007
January 2009 - Here the oak influence runs more to toast than wood spice, framing otherwise highly complex, elegant and nicely layered red pinot fruit that displays obvious anise and clove notes that continue onto the supple, round and unusually forward, indeed almost easy flavors that tighten up suddenly on the sappy and long finish. This is relatively fine for young Malconsorts with much less youthful austerity then is typical. 2014+ 91
